Toughened (Tempered) Glass is a safety glass that has been heat-treated to increase its strength, making it up to five times stronger than regular glass. It’s commonly used in frameless balustrades and Juliet balconies with continuous top rails, where its durability and resistance to impact meet safety requirements. If broken, it shatters into small, blunt pieces to reduce injury risk.
Toughened Laminated Glass, on the other hand, consists of two layers of toughened glass bonded by an interlayer (usually PVB or EVA). This construction holds the glass together if shattered, making it ideal for frameless Juliet balconies and structural balustrades without handrails, where fall protection is essential. The interlayer keeps the glass intact even when cracked, providing an added layer of safety.
